Eu și cei doi frați ai mei am venit în Norvegia în decembrie 2016. Purtam haine de vară pentru că ne-am gândit că va fi la fel de cald în Norvegia, precum în Somalia. Totuși, când am ajuns la aeroport, ningea. Ne era frig și vremea era rece. Deși adusesem câteva valize, în ele erau doar haine de vară.
My two brothers and I came to Norway in December 2016. We wore summer clothes because we thought it would be as warm in Norway as it was in Somalia. However, when we arrived at the airport, it was snowing. We were cold and the weather was chilly. Although we had brought a few suitcases, they only had summer clothes in them.
Chiar dacă era frig, am fost foarte fericită când am venit în Norvegia. În sfârșit, aveam să o reîntâlnesc pe mama mea, pe care nu o mai văzusem de șase ani. Ne-am întâlnit cu mama și doi prieteni de-ai ei. Când am văzut-o, am plâns de bucurie. Am mers cu mașina în orășelul în care locuiește mama.
Even though it was cold, I was very happy when we came to Norway. I would finally meet my mum again, whom I had not seen for six years. My mum and two of her friends met us. When we saw her, we wept with joy. We drove to the small town where Mum lives.
Primele zile în orașul mamei au fost foarte ciudate. Era frig și zăpadă și nu era mare lucru de văzut. Străzile erau complet goale. Puținii oameni pe care i-am întâlnit păreau reci și neprietenoși. În Somalia erau oameni peste tot, așa că totul se simțea necunoscut aici. Mama și prietenii ei ne-au făcut niște cadouri, apoi ne-a dus să ne cumpărăm haine de iarnă.
The first days in Mum’s town were very strange. It was cold and snowy and there was not much to see. The streets were completely empty. The few people I met seemed cold and unfriendly. In Somalia there were people everywhere, so everything felt unfamiliar here. My mum and her friends gave us some presents, and then she took us to buy winter clothes.
După sărbătorile de Crăciun m-am înscris la un curs de norvegiană la centrul de educație pentru adulți. Am studiat acolo doi ani înainte de a începe la o școală obișnuită. Acum sunt în ultimul an și mi-am făcut mulți prieteni noi. Sunt foarte sociabilă și îmi place să cunosc alți oameni.
After the Christmas holidays I joined a Norwegian course at the adult education centre. I studied there for two years before starting in an ordinary school. Now I am in my final year, and I have made many new friends. I am very sociable and enjoy meeting other people.
După școală merg la un centru condus de voluntari unde primesc ajutor la teme. M-am înscris și la un curs de cusut la centru.
After school I go to a centre run by volunteers where I get help with my homework. I have also joined a sewing course at the centre.
În Somalia nu am fost niciodată la școală și nu am făcut niciun curs, cu excepția școlii de Coran. Nu știam să citesc sau să scriu. Acum am învățat să scriu atât în somaleză, cât și în norvegiană, și multe alte materii. Fără educație am simțit că nu sunt nimeni. Acum mă simt informată și fericită.
In Somalia I never went to school or did any courses except Quran school. I did not know how to read or write. Now I have learned how to write in both Somali and Norwegian, and many other subjects. Without education I felt I was nobody. Now I feel knowledgeable and happy.
Anul viitor voi începe gimnaziul la secția de sănătate și dezvoltare pentru tineret. Pe viitor vreau să devin lucrător de tineret. Când voi termina studiile, visul meu este să obțin un loc de muncă permanent. De asemenea, vreau să învăț să conduc și să-mi iau permisul de conducere.
Next year I will start secondary school in the health and youth development section. In the future I want to become a youth worker. When I have finished my education, my dream is to get a permanent job. I also want to learn how to drive and get my driver’s licence.
Dacă aș fi rămas în Somalia, cred că aș fi fost mamă până acum. Poate aș fi avut deja mulți copii. Dacă aș fi fost în Somalia, nu aș fi avut aceleași oportunități ca cele pe care le am acum. Mă simt norocoasă că locuiesc în Norvegia.
If I had stayed in Somalia, I think I would have been a mother by now. Perhaps I would already have many children. If I had been in Somalia, I would not have had the same opportunities as I have had now. I feel lucky to live in Norway.
