Me llamo Malik y tengo 39 años de edad. Nací en Afganistán. Mi religión es diferente de la religión principal en Afganistán.

My name is Malik and I am 39 years old. I was born in Afghanistan. My religion is different from the main religion in Afghanistan.

Las personas que pertenecen a mi religión han sido perseguidas durante muchos años. Esto ha sido muy difícil para mi familia.

For many years, people who belong to my religion have been persecuted. This has been very difficult for my family.

Hace unos años hubo una guerra. Tuve miedo de que me asesinaran. Abandoné a mi familia para ir a Europa y comenzar una nueva vida.

A few years ago there was a war. I was afraid I would be killed. I left my family to go to Europe and start a new life.

Caminé muchos kilómetros. A veces no tenía comida ni lugar donde hospedarme. Algunas personas con las que viajé murieron.

I walked for many kilometres. Sometimes I had no food and nowhere to stay. Some of the people I travelled with died.

Finalmente llegué. Conocí a algunas personas de mi propio país que me ayudaron. No sé qué habría hecho sin ellos.

Finally I arrived. I met some people from my own country who helped me. I do not know what I would have done without them.

Empecé a estudiar el idioma, pero era difícil. Sabía que hablar el idioma era importante para conseguir un empleo.

I started to learn the language, but it was hard. I knew that speaking the language was important to get a job.

Estudié durante muchos años, primero para aprender el idioma. Fue difícil, pero me gusta aprender cosas nuevas.

I studied for several years, at first to learn the language. It was hard, but I enjoy learning new things.

Después de estudiar comencé a trabajar. Primero trabajé en un restaurante y luego me convertí en profesor porque quiero ayudar a la gente.

After studying I started working. First I worked in a restaurant, and then I became a teacher because I want to help others.

Espero volver algún día a Afganistán. Allí muchas personas necesitan ayuda y yo quiero ayudarlas.

I hope to go back to Afghanistan one day. Many people there need help, and I want to help them.
